Mix baby oil with cloves: in just 10 seconds you won't be able to live without.

Summer has the sweet taste of freedom that we love ... until the mosquitoes decide to crash the party. Open windows, evenings on the terrace, nights that are a little too hot: they are everywhere, persistent and often exactly where they shouldn't be. What if the solution is in your kitchen cabinet, with two ultra-simple ingredients that you probably already have at home?

Why mosquitoes hate cloves

Nellik is best known for adding flavors to dishes and heat for winter recipes. However, the powerful scent is not universally appreciated ... especially not by insects. The intense fragrance acts as an effective natural repellent, especially unpleasant for mosquitoes and other small flying insects.

Good news: there is no need to buy complicated or expensive products. By combining it with a mild oil, you get a user-friendly, convenient and discreet blend, perfect for summer.

The house mix that everyone talks about

What makes this trick so popular is its disarming simplicity. In just a few minutes of preparation (and a little patience) you will have a fragrant oil that many people use as a natural alternative to conventional solutions.

What you need
35 ml baby oil (or a mild vegetable oil such as olive or almond oil)
6 cloves

How to prepare the mixtures
Heat the oil warm over very low heat in a small boiler. The goal is not to warm it intensely, but only to promote the release of aromas.
Then add the cloves, take the boiler off the heat and let it cool completely.
Pour everything into the bottle, close it and place it in a cupboard protected from light for about ten days.
Remember to shake the bottle gently every other or third day to homogenize the infusion.
When the time has passed, the oil filters with a nice sieve or a coffee filter: it is ready to use.
How to use it daily

Apply a few drops to exposed areas (hands, ankles, arms) before going out or early in the evening. The scent spreads naturally and creates an odor barrier that mosquitoes dislike.

Tip: Always test the mixture on a small skin area before using it more widespread, especially if you have sensitive skin.

Other natural options to know

If you like to vary or complement your routine, other natural solutions are often used in the summer:

Eucalyptus leaves: added hot water, the scent can be spread near windows.

Chamomile: when gently rubbed into the skin, it is appreciated for its gentleness.
