DIY Birdhouse From a Thrifted Teapot

Materials

  • 1 vintage teapot (preferably with a lid)

  • 1 wooden dowel (¼-inch diameter, approximately 6 inches long)

  • Outdoor acrylic paint (colors of your choice)

  • Paintbrushes

  • Drill with a ceramic drill bit

  • Strong adhesive or epoxy

  • Twine or wire for hanging

  • Clear outdoor sealant

Directions

Directions

  1. Clean the teapot thoroughly to remove dust or residue.

  2. Using a drill with a ceramic drill bit, carefully drill a small hole near the bottom of the teapot for the perch. The hole should be slightly larger than the dowel’s diameter.

  3. Insert the wooden dowel into the hole and secure it with strong adhesive or epoxy. Allow it to dry completely.

  4. Paint the teapot using outdoor acrylic paint in colors that complement your garden or chosen theme. Feel free to add patterns, florals, or whimsical scenes.

  5. Once the paint has dried, apply a clear outdoor sealant to protect it from the elements.

  6. Drill two small holes on opposite sides of the teapot lid. Thread twine or wire through the holes to create a hanger.

  7. Hang the teapot birdhouse from a tree branch or hook, making sure it’s stable and secure.
