I just found this on my bed, it scares me a little, what is it?
Picture this: you walk into the bedroom, ready to relax, when you come across strange burgundy objects on the bed. You pick them up: small, capsule-shaped, shiny, and unfamiliar. Immediately, concern takes over. Are they insect eggs? Strange seeds? Medication? Or something more serious?
1. Soft gels (supplements or medications)
The shape and color are similar to common soft gels such as fish oil, vitamin E, or krill oil. They dissolve easily and can slip unnoticed into the litter box. If you or someone you know is taking supplements, check to see if there is a match.
2. Seeds
It’s less likely, but some seeds, such as pomegranate or date seeds, can have a smooth, dark appearance. However, the seeds usually have a more fibrous or opaque texture, in contrast to the shiny, frozen surface seen here.
3. Exuviae or insect droppings?
It’s a common fear: thinking that it has something to do with insects. Fortunately, these objects do not look like insect eggs, larvae, or droppings. Most insect eggs are white or transparent and have an irregular shape. In this case, the objects are too uniform and shiny to be organic insect material.
