These “spot the difference” puzzles are very popular and are often based on one of two principles:

Real details: The difference is minimal (e.g. a missing pixel, a different color, or a slight shift in the background).

Psychological trick: The images are actually completely identical, and the caption “If you can spot the difference, you’re a genius” is simply intended to entice people to scrutinize the image for several minutes, thus increasing the number of views of your post.
