Ingredients

For the Cake

  • 1 box angel food cake mix
  • 1 can (20 ounces) crushed pineapple in juice, do not drain

For the Pineapple Topping

  • 1 container (8 ounces) whipped topping (Cool Whip), thawed
  • 1 box (3.4 ounces) instant vanilla pudding mix
  • 1 can (8 ounces) crushed pineapple, undrained

Instructions

Step 1: Prepare the Cake

  1. Preheat your oven according to the directions on the angel food cake mix package (usually 350°F/175°C).
  2. In a large mixing bowl, combine the dry angel food cake mix with the 20-ounce can of crushed pineapple and its juice.
  3. Stir gently until fully combined. The mixture will become light and foamy.
  4. Pour the batter into an ungreased 9×13-inch baking dish.
  5. Bake for 25–30 minutes, or until the top is golden brown and a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  6. Allow the cake to cool completely before adding the topping.

Make the Pineapple Topping

  1. In a medium bowl, mix together the thawed whipped topping, instant vanilla pudding mix, and the 8-ounce can of crushed pineapple with its juice.
  2. Stir until smooth and creamy.
  3. Refrigerate for about 10–15 minutes to let the pudding thicken.

Assemble the Cake

  1. Spread the chilled pineapple topping evenly over the completely cooled cake.
  2. Refrigerate for at least 2 hours before serving so the flavors can blend and the cake becomes perfectly chilled.

Serving Suggestions

  • Garnish with toasted coconut flakes.
  • Add fresh pineapple chunks for extra tropical flavor.
  • Top with maraschino cherries for a colorful finish.
  • Sprinkle chopped pecans or walnuts for a little crunch.

Storage

  • Store covered in the refrigerator for up to 4 days.
  • Do not freeze, as the whipped topping may lose its texture after thawing.

This cool, creamy dessert is incredibly moist, wonderfully light, and packed with sweet pineapple flavor in every bite. It’s one of those effortless recipes that always disappears fast!
